What does Hulan do?

Nothing but fun things. We are a highly creative company specializing in (serious) games and gamification applications. Anything related to or falling within that domain fits well with us.

What are serious games?

A serious game is a game with a primary purpose other than pure entertainment. Its main goal might be communication, learning, behavior change, or even improving road safety for pizza delivery drivers. A serious game can utilize various media: it can be a paper-based board game or card game, a facilitated management game, or a computer game.

Do you make everything digital?

Most of what Hulan creates is digital; this is where our expertise and passion lie. With digital products, we can best apply our knowledge of gamification and serious games. If it fits, Hulan can also handle all peripheral products including advertising work, video, and print.

What is gamification?

Gamification is the application of game thinking and game techniques in non-game environments. In gamification, you use game elements to motivate users and enrich their experience.

How long does it take to develop a game?

This entirely depends on the size of the project. On average, the turnaround time with us is about 5-7 months. Developing a game is an enjoyable yet challenging process. Before we start, we estimate the hours required for each component. These estimated hours are scheduled in "scrum sprints", and then we work from prototype through alpha and beta versions to delivery. There are play-tests and discussions to discuss priorities for each version.

What does it cost to develop a game?

Well, that's a tough question... it entirely depends on the type of game you want. The development budget for a small game starts at around 15,000 euros. Development for a game in the app stores quickly goes up to 30,000 euros, and ultimately, here too, the sky's the limit.
